Graduation marks a pivotal moment, a celebration of achievements and a launch into new beginnings. For the class of 2025, Pastor Léveillé shared a powerful message from Proverbs 3:5-6 during a recent sermon at Faithway Baptist Church. This familiar passage, often a favourite among young believers, provides a roadmap for navigating the uncertainties of the future. With decisions piling up and paths diverging, the pastor’s words remind us that life’s direction hinges not on intelligence alone but on surrender to God. Below, we unpack four key principles from this sermon to guide graduates and anyone seeking purpose in their journey.

Trust God Completely

The cornerstone of Proverbs 3:5-6 is the call to “trust in the Lord with all thine heart.” Pastor Léveillé emphasized that this trust is not a half-hearted commitment but an all-in attitude. For graduates facing an unknown future, this means surrendering every aspect of life to God, from career choices to relationships. Quoting Corrie ten Boom, the pastor reminded us, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” If God can be trusted with eternity, He can surely be trusted with the here and now. Graduates were encouraged to rely on Him for their calling, finances, and fears, knowing that faith is believing God will act and living as if He already has.

Don’t Depend on Yourself

The sermon continued with a warning against leaning on one’s own understanding. While God has gifted us with intelligence, Pastor Léveillé cautioned that our brains are not meant to replace the Bible. Graduates, having been immersed in daily chapel and biblical teaching, now face a world where spiritual discipline is self-driven. The pastor urged them to avoid the trap of arrogance, which relies on self, and instead embrace confidence that leans on God. Whether choosing a college, a career, or a relationship, prayer must precede decisions. By trusting in God’s everlasting arms rather than limited human understanding, graduates can navigate life’s crossroads with clarity.

Acknowledge God in Everything

The word “all” in “in all thy ways acknowledge him” is the heart of these verses, according to Pastor Léveillé. To acknowledge God is to know Him intimately, inviting Him into every choice, habit, and daily pursuit. This is not limited to church activities but extends to every facet of life. The pastor highlighted the Hebrew word yada, meaning to know personally and submit to God’s authority. For graduates, this means seeking God in every class, job, or challenge, ensuring He has the final say. Even when tempted to compromise or follow the crowd, acknowledging God keeps one’s focus on His purpose.

He Will Guide You Faithfully

Finally, Pastor Léveillé underscored the promise that God “shall direct thy paths.” The Hebrew word yeshar implies that God removes obstacles, making the path clear. While life’s journey may include seasons of confusion, God’s guidance is certain for those who trust and acknowledge Him. The pastor encouraged graduates to resist the urge to force their own way, trusting instead that God will open or close doors as needed. Quoting Ephesians 2:10, he reminded them that they are created for good works, ordained by God. By staying close to Him, graduates can rest assured that He will lead them to their purpose, step by step.

Conclusion

As the class of 2025 steps into the next chapter, Pastor Léveillé’s charge is clear: trust God fully, rely on His wisdom, acknowledge Him in every decision, and trust His faithful guidance. Diplomas are valuable, but discipleship is paramount. By wearing the armor of God rather than just a cap and gown, these graduates can walk confidently with the One who holds tomorrow. May this message inspire us all to surrender our plans to God and let Him write our story.
